Ungodly needs

'Transactional Relationship Dynamics'

A theme coming up this week in my life and the life of my clients. Modern cultural narratives consumed by this focus on needs, needs, needs.

My needs, my unmet childhood needs, Looking for mom, dad, and god in our partners, friends, and community.

Modern therapy worshiping inner children.

Bullshit. This is not freedom. This child will never be satisfied.

There is no clean slate, no perfect childhood garden of Eden, we are ALL branded by the trauma of birth into a body. Lets have the courage to accept this, to breathe in the depth of our pain. Instead, we suffocate our relationships.

A question to consider instead.

What would my relationships look like If I accepted the notion that my needs and my longing might actually never be met. That they may actually be the essential material of my soul, my character, and my art?

My longing is a longing deeper than human, and no human can quench this soul's thirst.

Now what. Now we are in a new room entirely.
